So here’s the scenario: You set a goal. You do some research or thinking about how you’re going to accomplish this goal, and then you start taking action.
But then you also start catching yourself saying any of the following:
I’m not doing enough.
I’m not doing it right.
I don’t know what I’m doing.
These are all code for keeping us stuck. These statements represent old patterning and the ego trying it’s hardest to keep us in a seemingly safe place. And this is all a result of fear. We fear failure, we fear that we might not know how to handle success when it comes or any number of stories we’re carrying and telling ourselves. Feel free to fill-in the blank with your own limiting thought or fear!
What I’ve found is that we set an expectation of what we want or where we want to get to, and then that’s all we focus on. The big grand finished product! That “thing” in the future we’ve attached our happiness to. And we ignore all the beautiful little wins and small steps along the way because we have a singular focus on the end goal.
As I said in last week’s newsletter, reveling in the joy of ALL our wins – big and small – is what keeps us present and connected to ourselves, the journey and just life itself!
So take some time to consider:
What can you celebrate about today? What are the small positive changes you’ve made along the way? How have you shifted your thoughts? How have your habits changed?
And one last thing to think about is this: sometimes we don’t get what we ask for. That big grand finished product we’ve envisioned does not show up. You know why? Because something better is on its way!
So set your intentions, your goals, take your action, acknowledge the small joys along the way and then surrender. Let it go. Trust that what is for your highest good is on its way, because it is. And sometimes, what shows up is bigger and better that you ever dreamed possible!
