I’m three weeks into my journey and loving every minute of my time here in Paris. Part of what feels so good about being here is witnessing the Parisian way of life and how pleasure is a non-negotiable part of their day.
They take long lunches and meet with their friends to connect and enjoy each other’s company. They unapologetically drink wine and eat dessert. And they walk everywhere.
And it’s gotten me thinking about self-care. And how even in three weeks, the idea of self-care has deepened for me.
Self-care is about keeping all of the parts of us healthy – physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental. Essentially we are all one big ball of energy, and staying healthy in all of these areas is about keeping our energetic vibration high.
So today I’m sharing my tips for self-care! Here are four things to do:
1. Nourish yourself.
Fresh, whole, real food (organic as often as possible) has the highest vibration amongst food. When we eat good, clean food our bodies know what to do with it. It takes minimal effort to digest, so our bodies have energy left over to do the rest of the work that needs to be done to keep functioning at an optimum level.
This also means indulging now and then. And savoring every bite or sip of what you’re having. Truly experiencing the joy of what you’re eating, without the shame and guilt.

2. Move your body.
There’s no doubt that the simple act of moving your body shifts your energy. When you move and exercise, you feel connected in your physical body which can be very grounding. Exercise also releases endorphins, which helps you to feel good.
For some people, exercise is actually its own form of meditation, creating feelings of joy and a connection to the deeper self. If you’re not already in an exercise routine, start out slowly, with just walking 10 minutes a day.

3. Connect with friends.
Make time to nourish these relationships. They’re important for our mental and emotional health. Make a phone date, meet for lunch, make an exercise date or even plan a vacation together and enjoy and adventure!

4. Spend time with just yourself.
Nourish this inner relationship with your soul. Meditate, journal, breathe or just take a warm bath and listen to music. You can also go to the spa, get a manicure and pedicure or anything that makes you feel good!
