“How people treat you is their karma….
….how you react is yours.”
This is one of my favorite quotes by Wayne Dyer. Wayne was a pioneer in the spiritual/self-help world and passed away last weekend. His mission was to spread love to anyone who would listen. And to help people understand that they mattered.
He was adored by many including myself. When I first started on my journey inward, I devoured his books. Over the past several days there have been countless quotes of his posted on social media and it’s reminded me of how simple and yet profound his message was.
So I thought today I would share some of his quotes that resonate with this community:
“How people treat you is their karma, how you react is yours.”
No one can make you feel anything you are not available to feel. When you are coming from a place of wholeness and love, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, does or says. You get to choose your response.
“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
The way we see things is a choice. You can either choose to look at a situation as a disaster or a lesson. You can choose to see things through the lens of fear or love. It’s all about how you choose to perceive, and the way that you choose to see the world is exactly what you will create.
“The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.”
Expand your mind. Try new things and be open to new experiences. Welcome the unknown and be willing to be a student. Learning and growth are part of the journey.
“You cannot be lonely if you like the person you are with.”
Spend time alone and learn what feels good to you. Take time for yourself. Find out what really truly lights you up. Make this a priority. When you begin to truly appreciate yourself and all you have to offer, you will begin to love being in your own company.
“When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.”
This is sometimes a tough one to grasp. But the truth is that ultimately the judgment of another person is a judgment against yourself. What we see as undesirable in others is what we think is undesirable in ourselves, or what we fear to be true about ourselves.
