So, if you would have asked me a couple weeks ago how I would be finishing the year, my response would have been: “I’m getting after it!” I set some pretty intense goals for my business and achieved all of them but one. And up until a few days ago, I was all about accomplishing this last goal.
But when I got out of my head, and took a moment to get quiet in the present moment and come back into my body, I realized what I really desire for the last month of 2015 is to just be. To enjoy what I have achieved and created this year, and allow the space to feel into what I desire for 2016. To welcome the time and space to really connect, with myself and loved ones. To really bring 2015 into completion.
Not only is this what feels good in my body, but I’ve learned (with the help of my amazing coach) how important it is to acknowledge all the good and the achievements – big and small – along the way. I have a tendency to brush off pretty big accomplishments like they’re just supposed to be what’s happening. It’s been a pattern for me, that I don’t really take the time to appreciate myself for all the work and intention I have put into things. So taking the time for this really makes sense.
I’d love to share what this will actually look like in my own life, and how you can create a beautiful end to 2015 for yourself!
1.Take some time to quiet down and really feel into your energy right now. Are you feeling like setting and accomplishing some final goals for the year is right? Or, are you like me and in more of a reflective place where you desire to connect and appreciate and just be? Decide for yourself.
2. If you’re in the space of wanting to finish off strong and accomplish some goals, then I suggest focusing on ONE thing and making that focus so intense, it’s as if your life depends on it! Make a list of all the resources you have available to accomplish the goal and your why. Why do you want to achieve this goal? What’s the true, deep reason. And then, every time you need to take action and find yourself starting to sabotage your efforts, go back to your why. Connect with it on the inside to remind yourself of your true purpose, and then get back into action. That’s it. Get after it!
3. Now if you’re looking to be reflective in how you close out the year, keep reading! Set aside some quiet time over the next week. Light some candles, make some tea and play some soothing music. Get out your journal and reflect on every aspect of the year that was impactful. Accomplishments, joys, lessons, etc. Really savor and acknowledge everything!
4. Give yourself a few days and stay in this state of appreciation. Then a few days later, set-up the same scene and give yourself some time to free write what you want for 2016. The sky’s the limit! What do you desire to accomplish in the coming year? What do you desire to feel? What are the themes of the year? Travel? Health? Adventure Relationships? Money? Career? Again give yourself a few days to digest your desires for 2016 and feel free to add to the free write as ideas come to you! Then set some tangible goals. Start with 3-5 for the whole year and then set 3 for the next 3 months that align with your year long goals!
5. Share with a friend or loved one. And me! I would love to hear about this experience for you, so leave me a comment below!! I’m in this with you.
