We talk a lot about realizing our dreams, our desires and going after them. And while I think it’s so important to focus on what you want, I also think it’s essential to let it go too. Ok, let me explain before your head explodes!
Often times we focus and fixate on one specific thing, person or scenario that we desire in our lives so much that we end up forgetting WHY we actually have this desire in the first place. But the why is really important, because it’s often how we think this desire will make us feel.
We get so locked into thinking this one thing will be the ONLY way to feel how we want to feel. But, in reality there are lots of different ways to create the feeling we’re going after; they just may look different or come in a different package than what we’re expecting. The thing is though, if we’re so fixated on what we think it’s going to look like, then there’s a chance we’re missing out on what is actually meant for us.
A good example of this is the desire for a partner. When you think about the significant other you would love to have in your life, you might get a very specific image of what they will look like or how the act. You may even be fixating on someone already in your life being “the one.”
But when we let go, and focus instead on how having that partner in our lives will make us feel, we leave space for that person to show up in ways we have never even imagined.
There’s also another really important piece to letting go. Many times we are so fixated on the outcome we’re looking for, that we miss out on living in the present moment. And as we’ve discussed previously, the present moment is life. Right here and now is where the magic happens, and the truth is it’s all we have.
So here’s where the power is in letting go: if we can release our tight grip on the situation, we can relax and allow the space for our desires to manifest in unexpected ways. We also give ourselves the freedom to enjoy our lives as they are right now, instead of constantly being caught up in what we want to create in the future. This is the real power in making our desires a reality.
Here’s how to create what you want, from a powerful place:
- Come up with your desire – that thing you really want to create in your life.
- Set an intention around the desire and spend a few minutes visualizing it each day.
- But then, let it go. Release any attachment to how it will happen. When stating your desire, add “this or something better now manifests for me”.
- Now, live your life. Stay present and open to what’s showing up in your life. And you just may be surprised to see how things happen when you let a little magic in!
