In light of the upcoming US holiday marking our freedom, I thought we’d discuss what freedom means in this community. You in?!
Let’s start with the definition from my website:
What does it mean to be free? Well, it starts with knowing that you are safe to fully embrace who you really are. I’ve learned that feeling free stems from the realization that you can create the life you desire. That you don’t have to follow a conventional path – you get to choose how to live based on your deep desires. A big part of feeling free is letting go and diving in! Knowing that it’s ok to take risks and it’s also ok to make mistakes along the way.
I’ve had several calls with clients lately where we’ve discussed their fear of fully embracing who they are and how they are meant to show up in the world. What will people think? We often think it’s easier to hide our truth than actually live it. But I say screw that!
Because here’s the thing: people can only truly see you as deep as they’ve seen themselves. Not everyone is meant to see you. And that’s ok! Because the people that DO see you are the ones who are meant to see you, and need to see you. By showing up as who you really are, you are giving them permission to also shine and show up as their authentic selves.
If you have a freak flag (or in most cases, a perceived freak flag because let’s face it, it’s all in our heads) I say wave it high and proud. WE NEED YOU!! Seriously. Whatever it is that you think makes you different or weird, don’t hide it. Let it shine!
The world needs people who aren’t afraid to live their truth. Because truth ignites happiness, which then raises your vibration and energy. And, I believe it’s this kind of energy that has the power to change the world in a serious way!
Happy Independence Day!
