Last week, we talked about harnessing the power of your intuition to guide you in making decisions in your life. I believe that listening to your intuition is SO important because when it gets down to it, your body knows what it needs.
One of your goals in this new year may be to lose some weight, start a new exercise program, maybe have more down time in your life, etc. But one thing I’ve noticed – from my own life and those of my clients – is that once we commit to a goal, it’s easy to get caught up in what we think we should be doing to pursue it properly. We put exercise schedules into place, start following new diet regimens, you name it.
Don’t get me wrong, schedules and plans are a key part of staying on track. But one thing we forget to do is to also tune into our bodies on a regular basis. What is your body telling you that it needs? If you take some time to get quiet and listen, there’s some real wisdom here.
I’ve found that when I follow the cues of my body, I may be lead to something my soul needs just as much as my physical body. That’s exactly what happened last spring when I finally joined a new spin class (Soul Cycle) after resisting it for quite a while. I share my story on that here.
What is your body telling you? Take a few quiet moments, put your hand on your heart, and feel into it.
Do you need to skip the gym today and go outside for a walk?
Are you craving a specific food?
Do you need to sit and meditate?
Take a relaxing, hot bath?
Do you need to go out and sprint in the field or maybe take a boxing class?
Enjoy a delicious piece of dark chocolate?
Whatever comes up, trust that your body knows what it needs and that it will lead you in just the right direction, even that means deviating from your plan or schedule today. The more you practice this, the deeper your experience will be. And I’m willing to bet that when you begin listening to your body, you’ll discover more joyful and even more fulfilling ways to reach you goals and create your desires.
